During a walk in the forest, the child meets a bird perched on a branch, singing as the wind blows. Intrigued, the child approaches and asks:
— Dear bird, what are you doing on your branch?
— I sing facing the wind, dear child.
— You sing facing the wind… and why?
— I sing for the calm and the gentleness of the world. For the wind, you see, is like the mind: when it is agitated, the mind itself becomes unsettled.

Während eines Spaziergangs im Wald begegnet das Kind einem Vogel, der auf einem Ast sitzt und im wehenden Wind singt. Neugierig kommt das Kind näher und fragt:
— Lieber Vogel, was machst du auf deinem Ast?
— Ich singe dem Wind entgegen, liebes Kind.
— Du singst dem Wind entgegen … und warum?
— Ich singe für die Ruhe und die Sanftheit der Welt. Denn der Wind, siehst du, ist wie der Geist: Wenn er aufgewühlt ist, wird auch der Geist unruhig.
