Lors de sa promenade dans la forêt, l’enfant rencontre sur son chemin un écureuil faisant la manche pour quelques noisettes. Intrigué, il lui donne ce qui lui reste dans ses poches, puis poursuit sa route.

Après avoir fait quelques pas, l’enfant s’arrête pour se reposer au pied d’un arbre. C’est alors qu’il aperçoit le même écureuil qu’un instant plus tôt, rentrant dans son véritable palais, dissimulé dans le tronc de l’arbre : un trou rempli de noisettes… et d’or.

Comme quoi, l’habit ne fait pas le moine.

During his walk in the forest, the child comes across a squirrel begging for a few nuts. Intrigued, he gives the squirrel the last of what he has in his pockets, then continues on his way.

After a few steps, the child stops to rest at the foot of a tree. That’s when he sees the same squirrel he had just helped, entering its true palace hidden in the tree trunk: a hole filled with nuts… and gold.

It just goes to show that appearances can be deceiving.

Bei seinem Spaziergang durch den Wald trifft das Kind auf ein Eichhörnchen, das um ein paar Nüsse bettelt. Neugierig gibt es dem Eichhörnchen den letzten Rest aus seinen Taschen und geht dann weiter.

Nach einigen Schritten hält das Kind an, um sich am Fuß eines Baumes auszuruhen. Da sieht es dasselbe Eichhörnchen, das es gerade geholfen hatte, in seinen wahren Palast im Baumstamm gehen: ein Loch voller Nüsse … und Gold.

Es zeigt sich: Der Schein kann trügen.
